Why Is Tempered Glass Brittle In Winter?

Jan. 21, 2019

With the advent of winter, Building Tempered Glass (especially outdoor) is two thousandth more than the previous season, and tempered glass is a kind of prestressed glass. There is compressive stress on the surface and tensile stress inside. Generally, the glass is in a state of balance of force. However, there are a small amount of impurities in the glass raw material.

As time goes by, and the temperature in winter is large during the day and night, a phase change occurs and the volume increases. In particular, the temperature inside the house is high, and the temperature outside the house is low. It is also the temperature outside the glass on the window, which in turn destroys the compressive stress and tensile stress balance of the tempered glass, and breaks itself. It is called self-explosion in the industry.

In order to avoid the rupture of Ultra Large Tempered Glass or glass in the northeast, they are separated by two layers of doors and windows.
